Biography
Annelies Verkest is a registered mental health nurse and smoke cessation consultant. She worked from 2000 until 2012 in those functions in the psychiatric hospital in Pittem, Belgium. From 2012 until 2016, after having achieved the master’s degree in nursing, she worked as a clinical nurse specialist. The subjects she worked on were the reduction of coercion measures in the hospital and safety management in the context of suicidal behavior. Now she works as lecturer and researcher at the VIVES University College, Department of Health, Bruges, Belgium. The topics she is involved in, are mental health, relational skills and self-care for caregivers.
