Joeri Vandewalle (PhD, MSc, RN) is employed as Staff Officer Care in the Psychiatric Centre Sint-Amandus in Beernem (Belgium). He worked as a nurse on several mental health wards, where he also supported a range of projects focused on recovery and participation. As a scientist, he worked on several studies that were published in international peer-reviewed journals. His research is based on a range of designs and methods and it focuses on multiple topics, such as the implementation of roles for peer support workers, the participation of patients and family members, and the relational fundaments of nursing care (e.g. for patients who experience suicidal ideation). These research contributions were acknowledged by national and European funding and awards.
